Amazing America

Tomorrow is 4th of July, which means it’s a day to celebrate America!

When I was 25, I attended makeup school in California and fell in love with living there. I moved back to Europe shortly thereafter, but always knew I wanted to go back to the states at some point. A few years ago, the opportunity arose to launch Pixi in America, so I made the move back and now I am settled into life in beautiful America again :)

I love many things about living in America, but one of the top things I love is the healthy lifestyle & food that is so easy to find here. Being from Sweden, where the sun doesn’t come out for much of the year (be sure to read the post before this one for more on that), I am obsessed with the fact that so many things can be grown all year…it’s a true luxury for me to have herbs in the garden & lemons in the trees – at my own house! :)

I have to say that the the crisp summer light & wild nature here reminds me of Sweden constantly.

To help you celebrate the 4th of July, I’ve put together some makeup ideas in incorporate red, white, and blue into your look:

Find Pixi Tinted Brilliance Balm in Rosy Red at:

This is a classic look that just screams “Americana”. Although it can be worn any time of year, I love to do a bright red in summer to enliven & make a statement without having to wear much else on the face. Pair this lip with glowing skin and not much else on eyes or cheeks in order to keep it fresh instead of too put-together.

The words “white eyeshadow” can bring retro, but maybe not-so-flattering retro, images to mind. However, when used sparingly it can create a gorgeous, awakening glow that lights up the whole face. Dust a sheer white eyeshadow or highlighter into very inner corners of eyes with a fluffy brush, and blend out until it fades into skin. Make sure to add a few coats of mascara to create definition for this look.

Find Pixi Lash Booster in Blackest Blue at:

Find Pop Beauty Peak Performance Mascara in Inky Indigo at:

Depending on the hue and formula you use, blue lashes can be full-on & dramatic, or can actually be very subtle & enhancing – in fact, I wear a black-blue mascara almost everyday & it brightens without looking over-the-top. This is one of my favorite tricks that I use on shoots & on myself to turn to tired or red eyes into gorgeous, sparkling ones in a few sweeps!

Try out some of these tips for the upcoming holiday – I hope you all have a fun & safe 4th of July!
